Department pilot
Notice Decoder, a SETU 2026 project by team Nova Nexus. Last updated 19 October 2026.
The problem the department has
A class representative or a teacher forwards every notice by hand. Students miss a revised time, and two events on one day are only noticed on the day. Students already get the free app: paste or share a notice, check the few uncertain fields, see the clashes, add the events to their calendar.
What the department plan adds
- The class representative or a teacher decodes a notice once and presses Publish to class.
- Every student subscribes once to one calendar link. When a notice is revised or an event is cancelled, the calendars change by themselves.
- Every publish is checked against everything already published that term, so a clash is reported before the date, not on it.
- A console lists everything published and cancels an event for the whole class.
The pilot
One department, one term, free. The class representative publishes the notices they would have forwarded anyway.
What we measure
The class console shows these five numbers for the term, straight from what was published:
| Number | What it tells the HOD |
|---|---|
| Notices published | The class actually uses it. |
| Events live | How much the class calendar holds right now. |
| Events revised | Changes that reached every student without a re-forward. |
| Events cancelled | Cancellations that reached every calendar. |
| Clashes reported before the date | Collisions found at publish time, each counted once. |
The pilot succeeds if the department agrees to pay for the next term.
Price
Our proposal is ₹2,999 per department per year, after the free pilot term. It is an estimate we want to test, not a quote. For scale, a full college ERP lists $999 to $1,699 a year for the whole college, so one feature for one department has to cost far less. No college has paid yet.
Students
The student app stays free: paste or share a notice, check, clash check, calendar file, Google Calendar. It runs in the browser and the notice never leaves the phone.
What is stored for a class
Only the reviewed events the representative publishes (title, date, time, venue, link) and four counters, on a calendar service so classmates can subscribe. See the privacy page. A class can be removed on request.
